Alexithymia and Self Differentiation: The Role of Fear of Intimacy and Insecure Adult Attachment

Abstract It is suggested in literature that there a link between Alexithymia and Self-Differentiation; however, little known about possible mediation factors. The goal of this work to test non-clinical population adults the role Fear Intimacy Adult Attachment relationship Self-Differentiation. A sample 258 participants self identified as gay or lesbian, aged 20–50 years (M: 30.29; SD: 7.27), 45% whom were males, completed self-reported measures (TAS-20), Self-Differentiation (SDI), (FIS); Insecure (RAAS). Our results show predicts both directly indirectly, through adult attachment. In addition, influences Self-Differentiation, also mediates which, turn, negatively conclusion, while attachment may act mediators report. Limitations study directions future research are described.
